Super Easy Stars & Stripes Pie Recipe
INGREDIENTS
2 pre-made pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
2 cups strawberries, washed and hulled
1 cup blueberries, washed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, blueberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Gently mix everything together until the berries are coated evenly. Set aside.
Roll out one of the pie crusts and carefully place it into a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it gently against the sides and bottom.
Pour the berry mixture into the pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
Roll out the second pie crust and use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out stars. You can also use a knife to create stripes or other desired shapes.
Arrange the cut dough on top of the berry mixture to resemble an American flag pattern. You can create a blueberry square in the upper left corner and use the cut dough to form stripes.
Brush the top crust with the beaten egg to give it a golden finish.
Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips, and bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely before serving.
Serve your delicious American Flag Pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired. Enjoy!
